48 Bleeding Cool stories from the past two weeks... including Image dumping Diamond for Lunar.
That was quite a hit today, wasn't it?
So Image Comics has left Diamond Comics Distributors in favour of Lunar. When the word started to break last night I was contacted by a number of panicky British retailers. They remember what happened when DC went that route and suddenly comic shops in the UK were paying more in freight for directly shipped comics to their stores than the comics actually cost. DC walked it back a couple of weeks in dealt with Diamond UK directly for the UK market. Not so Image Comics, they ate giving the whole caboodle to Lunar, though Lunar will then allow Diamond - and Diamond UK. Which, for British comic shops who make around 15% of Image’s direct market sales, means another middle man but at least the costs will only be outrageously high rather than insanely ewe-wateringly ridiculous.
It did give context to Diamond’s rush to point out their ongoing deals with Opus, AWA and Massive Publishing which might make a percentage market share between them.
Anyway, here are a few stories you might have missed in your rush from Bleeding Cool over the last couple of weeks. Feel free to share.
