The latest gossip coming from Supergirl and Avengers movies
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow that is, and Avengers Doomsday.
I might write up comic book gossip for Bleeding Cool, but what about comic book slash movie gossip? Maybe that could be what my Substack is, for since I seem to have abandoned everything else? Here’s what was leaking out of MegaCon this past week…
In the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film, director Craig Gillespie really wanted The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal as Lobo, but DC Studios head James Gunn really wanted Jason Momoa. So, with Momoa as Lobo, you can tell who is wearing the trousers on Supergirl. We all saw The Franchise HBO TV show from Armando Iannucci, right?
Talking of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, just as with Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic book on which the film is based, the movie will open with Supergirl on a planet underneath a red sun, getting drunk and causing fights. But as the film goes, don’t expect the universe as seen in the comic. We’re talking three planets and ten main alien characters, not the hordes of the comic book. Comics have a bigger budget, you see.
At least Supergirl has a script that everyone is down with. Getting the goss, over from the other studio, Avengers Doomsday is causing issues, without a script that anyone is happy with, less than six weeks before they start shooting, they are calling up anyone and everyone for cameos. Is Sir Ian McKellen available? It seems that he might be…
Right now, the only difference between The Franchise and real life is that in The Franchise, everyone doesn’t stand around waiting, saying, “This is just like The Franchise,” as they do in real life. And since it isn’t getting a second season, they never will.
